Maun is the starting point for most expeditions into the Okavango Delta and as a result, has developed into a bustling metropolis that is considered Botswana’s tourism capital. Area attractions include boat cruises up and down the Thamalakane River or daytrips in to Moremi Game Reserve.
Crocodile Camp is located a 12km drive away from the small town of Maun, towards the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. Situated on the banks of the Thamalakane river, the camp hosts an abundance of bird life with the occasional hippo or crocodile. The camp grounds are beautifully maintained with a private swimming pool for residents and a restaurant for scrumptious meals. The guest accommodations offer well equipped standard chalets for a comfortable stay, and deluxe chalets for a more luxurious experience. All chalets feature en suite bathrooms, with wooden verandas, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and housekeeping.

The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season.
The Khwai area offers the same wildlife experience as the reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives.
Saguni Safari Lodge is situated in Moremi East in the Okavango Delta. It is nestled in an island of mature riparian trees, typical of the Okavango Delta. The Lodge overlooks the ‘Mbudi Lagoon’, in the beautiful game-rich area of Khwai. The name ‘Saguni’ is a bushman name for Khwai, meaning “an area with abundance of game and spectacular sights”
Saguni Safari Lodge has 9 Forest Tents and 8 Luxury River Tents, custom-designed and built in harmony with the island environment. The River Tents are on the riverfront with stunning views over the Sable River and the Forest Tents are nestled under the canopy of trees.
The Lodge offers open vehicle photographic safaris and walking safaris. Besides the day-time game drives, which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe, there is also the option to experience a night drive. Cultural visits, bush walks and mokoro excursions are all available at Saguni.
Saguni Safari Lodge offers the ultimate Okavango Delta experience, with a wide range of activities, a beautiful location, diverse wildlife and warm, local hospitality.

Lying in the middle of the largest expanse of sand on earth the Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most amazing, sensitive and complex environments supporting a spectacle of wilderness and wildlife.
Unique as one of the world’s few inland deltas, the placid waters and lush indigenous forests offer a safe haven for innumerable bird and wildlife species.
The Okavango Delta offers a number of activities for the visitor; game viewing, birding and fishing are all on offer. One can experience this magical world of islands and waterways from land, air and water.
Highlights include the elusive Sitatunga antelope which has found refuge in this pristine wetland ecosystem, while birds such as the African fish eagle, Pel’s fishing owl and many others provide a spectacular display.
Internal Flight Information
Xugana Lagoon is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta. Xugana Island Lodge, situated on a wooded island abutting the lagoon, takes full advantage of this magnificent site. The thatched common area, comprising cocktail bar, lounge and curio shop, is still the original building put up in 1974, when Xugana became only the second tourist lodge ever built in the Okavango Delta.
Mokoro trips in eco-friendly dugout canoes built to the traditional design, boat safaris to lagoons and islands and wilderness walks give guests the chance to see the Delta wildlife such as sitatunga and lechwe antelope, crocodile and hippo, as well as the other big game that frequents the islands and riverine fringes. Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding, and the bream and tiger fishing can be excellent at certain times of the year. Optional day and night drives are available on the islands surrounding Xugana Island Lodge. The peaceful boat ride back across Xugana Lagoon during the spectacular African sunset provides a lifelong memory.
