DAY 1: FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON ARUSHA THE ARUSHA HOTEL, ARUSHA

Arusha

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

JRO – INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL @..hrs (Arrival flight TBA)

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and assisted by Tanzanian driver guide. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Arusha arriving in time for check in. Rest of the day at leisure. All meals are excluded.

The Arusha Hotel is located in the beautiful city of Arusha, Tanzania. The hotel offers 106 stylish rooms that feature Wi-Fi access, a television and a sitting area. DAY 2: LEMALA MPINGO RIDGE, TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprising of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, check out and drive to Lemala Mpingo Ridge, arriving in time for check in and lunch. After lunch proceed for an afternoon game drive.

Tarangire is Tanzania’s third largest national park and a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are another interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. You may catch glimpses of lions, leopards and cheetahs, Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Warthog, Eland, the Fringe-eared Oryx, Lesser and Greater Kudu, Gerenuk, and large numbers of Impala.

Overnight: Lemala Mpingo Ridge  

Lemala Mpingo Ridge sits on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below, matching the same outstanding standards of comfort and service as the other properties in the Lemala Collection. Guests at Lemala Mpingo Ridge will enjoy a real sense of wilderness and excellent game viewing. It’s both a relaxing standalone destination and a great place to start a safari before venturing on to our Lemala properties in the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti.

Each of the 15 spacious tented suites has been carefully positioned to maximize the sensational views over Tarangire, also taking advantage of the cooling breezes during hot weather. They feature en-suite bathrooms, private decks, sunken outside lounges that convert to afternoon siesta beds and one of the suites has two bedrooms. A special feature is the private outside bathtub—perfect for soothing the soul and washing away the African dust after a day on safari.

The elevated main lodge has a lounge and bar, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a spa and swimming pool. Our guests can look forward to Sundowners and game drives in new custom-designed vehicles, accompanied by Lemala’s knowledgeable and experienced guides.

DAY 4: THE RETREAT AT NGORONGORO, KARATU

Karatu

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will inevitably pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional Iraqw homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and elephants caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at Lemala Mpingo Ridge, after breakfast, depart and drive to Gibbs Farm for check in and lunch. Then proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive till late afternoon.

Late afternoon drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight

The Retreat at Ngorongoro is a meticulously themed lodge set within 30 acres of land with clear emphasis on nature and bird life in the area. As you walk around the lodge, you will be amazed at how nature has been integrated into this development. Due consideration has been made to ensure that space, privacy and a close to nature experience is enhanced. Due to the convenient location, one can easily undertake visits to Lake Manyara national park, Lake Eyasi area and Ngorongoro crater.

DAY 5: NGORONGORO OLDEANI MOUNTAIN LODGE, KARATU

Depart with picnic lunch boxes and drive to Ngorongoro Conservations area and immediately commence drive to the floor of the crater for crater tour. Quite possibly the most famous of all Africa’s conservation areas, this is one of the places where you stand a good chance of seeing the Big 5. The enduring charm of Ngorongoro stems from its overwhelming physical beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident here.

Picnic lunch boxes will served at the floor of the crater.

Late afternoon you will drive to Oldeani Ngorongoro Mountain Lodge for check in and dinner.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge          

O’ldeani Ngorongoro Mountain Lodge is a colonial lodge situated on a picturesque hill with spectacular views of Oldeani Mountain and the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. The lodge is elevated, featuring spectacular views that extend all the way to Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara.

The property is set on 40 acres of lush green gardens and local vegetation, with over 130 species of birds. The lodge is accessed over a pond and one’s first impression is the grand central hallway with wooden trusses looking out over the fireplace, infinity pool and out to Mount O’ldeani, which is part of the caldera of the Ngorongoro crater, only 12km away.

DAY 6: MELIA SERENGETI LODGE, CENTRAL SERENGETI

Central Serengeti

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains, interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite, scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include: game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Breakfast at your lodge,

Depart and drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. The Olduvai Gorge Museum offers numerous educational exhibits, including fossils and artefacts of our human ancestors and skeletons of many extinct animals who shared their world. There are also informative lectures, special guided archaeological sites tours, native handcrafts and a well-stocked bookshop.

Proceed game en – route to Melia Serengeti Lodge for check in and lunch. Afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park.

This enormous park supports every variety of animal imaginable – from large predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah to the smaller herbivores they prey on

Overnight: Melia Serengeti Lodge

Located in the heart of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Melia Serengeti Lodge is an excellent option for a nature vacation. The guest rooms and suites offer breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape. Room feature air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, minibars, coffee makers and private terraces, and suites feature TVs and dining areas. Guests can enjoy inclusive meals and drinks at the on-site restaurant and bar. Amenities include a fitness centre, a swimming pool and a spa. DAY 8: LEMALA KURIA HILLS LODGE, NORTHERN SERENGETI

Northern Serengeti

The vast, rolling savannah of the Northern Serengeti is known as the hub of the great migration. The landscape is characterised by vast stretches of savannah interspersed with acacia trees and riverine woodlands. Wildlife can be seen along the banks of the Mara River and visitors can view the annual spectacle of the half a million migrating wildebeest. Commonly spotted wildlife include: a multitude of plains game such as buffalo, zebra, gazelles, impala, giraffe as well as lion and leopard. Visitors can look forward to bird watching, hot air ballooning, game safaris and guided bush walks.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, check out and drive with picnic lunch boxes or if you opt, you will have your hot lunch at the lodge at Lemala Kuria Hills Camp. An extended game drive around the river for chances to see lots of predators on their hunt. All meals at Lemala Kuria Hills Camp

Overnight: Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge         

Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is remotely located in the Wogakurya Hills of the Northern Serengeti. A scenic region characterised by grassy rolling hills, open woodland and tree-lined watercourses, it is a habitat that attracts wildlife throughout the year. Lemala Kuria Hills is in close proximity to the Mara River on the Serengeti’s border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara, so is also within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.

The lodge offers unrivalled luxury and sophistication, where you can choose to either relax in style or enjoy the Northern Serengeti’s excellent game viewing (without the crowds) with superb guides in 4×4 vehicles.

Large granite boulders and kopjes are the prominent feature of Lemala Kuria Hills, and each of the 15 spacious, glass-fronted tented suites has been discreetly set amongst the giant rocks to ensure maximum privacy and spectacular views from the open decks.
