DAY 1: KIA LODGE, ARUSHA

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport ex KL567K ETA@1955hrs, you will be met and assisted by AMA Safaris representative before being transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Overnight: Kia Lodge

DAY 2: MARAMBOI TENTED LODGE, LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara National Park

Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with the Lake Manyara on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The park supports 400 species of bird, and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and Egyptian mongoose. Don’t miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, join your safari driver guide and drive to Tarangire National Park arriving at Maramboi Tented Camp in time for lunch. Game drives are conducted in Tarangire National Park which hosts among other species Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Warthog, Eland, the Fringe – eared Oryx, Lesser and Greater Kudu, Gerenuk, and large numbers of Impala. Afternoon game viewing drive.

Overnight: Maramboi Tented Lodge         

This is a unique opportunity to experience and explore the Tarangire and Manyara ecosystem. Maramboi Tented Camp offers permanent camp facilities and endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm lined desert between Tarangire and Manyara Lake. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of Mankind and an explanation of the Rift Valley and Africa’s big picture. It is a complete semi desert experience focusing on safari walks and game drives.

40 spacious tents built on ample wooden decks, among them there are 12 family rooms with 2 rooms interconnected, ideal for families with children. They all have en suite facilities and private veranda with 24 hours 220V electric lighting.

DAY 3: TLOMA LODGE, KARATU

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at your camp,

Depart with picnic lunch boxes from the camp and drive to Lake Manyara National Park, one of the Rift Valley’s numerous alkaline lakes, which apart from its abundant bird life, is known for its tree-climbing lions.

Enjoy a full day game drive at the Lake Manyara National Park. Later in the evening transfer to your lodge for check in.

Overnight: Tloma Lodge     

Tloma Lodge is a small, exclusive lodge situated on top of a valley overlooking a coffee plantation, the Eastern wall of the Ngorongoro crater and a beautiful waterfall. It consists of 36 spacious suites in cottages built in the style of an old colonial farm offering guests a relaxing, quiet atmosphere surrounded by beautiful gardens.

DAY 4: SERENGETI NDUTU KATI KATI TENTED CAMP, NDUTU

Set in the Arusha Region, Ndutu is situated in the northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the magnificent Serengeti. The surrounding landscapes are covered in sweeping grasslands which provide the perfect habitat for the migratory route for hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, antelope and zebra. Visitors can look forward to exploring the forest around Lake Ndutu, spotting an array of wildlife, and visiting the fascinating archaeological site at the Olduvai Gorge. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on a game drive to view the spectacular herds of the annual Great Migration, enjoy a scenic hot air balloon ride over the plains and take a guided tour with the local Maasai and learn about culture and traditions. Other commonly spotted species include: leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval, African wildcat, and a variety of prolific birdlife.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, drive to the Serengeti National Park, undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. En route visit the Olduvai Gorge site of archaeological findings, where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered. Arrive for lunch at your camp.

Overnight: Serengeti Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp       

Situated in the south of Serengeti. With fantastic beautiful views to the African Savannah.  In the best spot to enjoy the migration from December to April.

The camps enable guest to experience an authentic African safari and at the same time offering the perfect balance between comfort, intimacy and splendid isolation. The camp is eco-friendly running on solar lighting. The camp consists of tent double spacious fully furnished tents and one family tent with en suite facilities, including a separate en suite WC and bucket shower. The camp completes its facilities with a mess tent where meals are served and a lounge tent. Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp –Open from December to April in the southern plains of Serengeti in the Serengeti National Park side.

After breakfast, drive to Karatu Region an area near the Ngorongoro crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. Its enduring charm stems from its overwhelming beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, optional activities are available on request at an extra cost.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Farm House        

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge is situated beneath the majestic Oldeani Volcano, and boasts easy access to both the untamed wilderness of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as the simple pleasure of a ramble through 500 acres of farmland. Ngorongoro Farm House was inaugurated on February 20th 2003, and is offering 52 room cottages, 49 standard rooms and 3 suite rooms, all with ample space inside, built on the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials and full of details of good taste, with the purpose of offering our clients an imaginary journey to the life of the days gone.

DAY 7: NGORONGORO FARM HOUSE, KARATU

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes from the lodge and drive to the Ngorongoro conservation area, on arrival descend into the crater for a full day crater tour, have your packed lunch at the bottom of the crater, in the evening ascend to the rim of the crater exit the conservation area and drive to back to your lodge

DAY 8: ESSQUE ZALU ZANZIBAR, NUNGWI

Once little more than a ramshackle fishing village, Nungwi has been transformed into one of Unguja island’s busiest beach destinations and its second most populated village after its capital, Stone Town. Situated at the island’s northernmost tip, Nungwi is blessed with some of Zanzibar’s most idyllic swimming beaches as the water surrounding this section of the island is fairly deep and mostly unaffected by the change of tides. The village is also renowned as a party hotspot with plenty of boisterous nightlife and a thriving social scene hosted by the village’s slew of hotels, bars, shops and restaurants. Spend your days lazing on the spectacular beaches, floating in the idyllic turquoise waters or indulging in a massage. Then, as the sun sets, join the revellers as the town comes alive, cocktails flow freely and the beach bonfires begin to blaze. Daily itineraries tend to be gloriously simple: sunbathe, swim, party, and repeat!
