DAY 1:  FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK, NAIROBI        

Nairobi

Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the Elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

A warm welcome awaits you upon arrival into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at TBA hrs ex -International flight, meet and greet by our AMA Safaris representative and after a short briefing transferred to your Nairobi hotel where you are booked on Bed & Breakfast basis.

DAY 2:  SATAO ELERAI CAMP, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK  

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

After breakfast transfer Wilson Airport to catch a scheduled flight for Amboseli National Park

Overnight: Satao Elerai Camp         

Satao Elerai is situated in its own private wildlife conservancy between Amboseli and Mt Kilimanjaro. The conservancy is full of wildlife and allows one the chance to see Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, leopard as well as most of the plains game including Kudu and large groups of Eland and Giraffe.

Wake up in the coolness of the early morning and watch the first few rays of the sun hit the blue Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s greatest mountain. Satao Elerai is an eco friendly luxury camp tugged away in the corner of the famous Amboseli Ecosystem, close to the famous Amboseli National Park. Satao Elerai represents 5 luxury suites and 12 charming canvas tents.

The gorgeous lodge style suites feature gently sloping organic walls, built with natural rocks, acacia wood and a carefully constructed thatched roof; large sliding doors opens up to a private verandah overlooking the plains of Elerai Conservancy and the Amboseli National Park. DAY 3: SATAO ELERAI CAMP, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Day  Itinerary

Immerse yourself in the drama of Amboseli on morning and afternoon safaris. Encounter local Maasai tribes people and the resident elephant herds, and keep an eye out for the savannah’s smaller creatures – including some of the more than 400 bird species that have been identified here.

DAY 4:  FAIRMONT MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB, NANYUKI          

Nanyuki

This small equatorial town is a popular thoroughfare for hikers climbing Mount Kenya via the Burguret or Sirimon routes, and consequently has a wide array of accommodation options and a few good restaurants, including Barney’s, known for its fine cuisine, and the Trout Tree, housed inside the trunk of an enormous tree and serving several variations of this freshwater fish. The town boasts excellent views of the mountain, while the surrounding region encompasses several reserves, including Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu National Reserve, Sweetwaters Game Reserve, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Shaba National Reserve.

Day  Itinerary

Transfer after breakfast to the Amboseli airstrip for your regular flight to the Mount Kenya at 0800hrs via connection at Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Met on arrival at Nanyuki Airstrip and transferred to the Mount Kenya Safari Club.

Visit Olpejeta Conservancy

This morning, we drive southwest from Mount Kenya Safari Club to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy which lies in the heart of privately owned 22,000acre this magnificent reserve, enjoys superb views across the game-studded plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. The reserve is home to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. Lunch and afternoon game drive at the sanctuary, and after the game drives we will make a return journey back to Mount Kenya Safari Club for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 & 7:  MARA INTREPIDS TENTED CAMP, MASAI MARA

Masai Mara

The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomises Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve. Aside from horse riding safaris and traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast transfer to the Nanyuki airstrip for your regular flight to the Maasai mara at 0800hrs. Met on arrival at Ol kiombo Airstrip and transferred to the Mara Intrepids Tented Camp.

Overnight: Mara Intrepids Tented Camp  

Set in the middle of the four game viewing areas of the Masai Mara Reserve and overlooking the Talek River, the Mara Intrepids Tented Camp is situated in one of the most spectacular locations in the world’s best-known wilderness.

The camp offers luxury tents sitting on raised platforms facing the river, with balconies and terraces, modern en-suite bathrooms and flush toilets. The accommodation includes daily housekeeping, minibars, complimentary toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Game viewing drives in open-sided safari jeeps are available daily, and guests can also take advantage of the air balloon safaris, bush dining, and other activities offered by the camp at an extra cost.

Mara Intrepids is a short drive from the Mara River, where more than a million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. For the remainder of the year, the camp offers some of the world’s finest game viewing, with large local populations of plains game, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and all the Big Cats.

DAY 8:  MARA INTREPIDS TENTED CAMP, MASAI MARA      

Option for an early morning hot air balloon safari, or embark on a wildlife drive to track the animals that traversed the savanna during the night. View ungulates like Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, topi and eland antelopes as well as their stealthy predators at one of their most active times of the day. Continue your exploration on a late afternoon safari, discovering the timeless landscapes of Masai Mara.

Masai Mara is one of the world’s top safari destinations, known for its abundance of big cats – cheetahs, leopards, and lions – as well as the two million wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles, and zebra that migrate annually across the vast grasslands in search of water. Set off on safari with our driver/guide and keep your eyes and ears peeled for movement and memories. Watch elephants and giraffe grazing, photograph zebras and wildebeest, and with a little luck, you’ll even spot animals feasting on a recent kill.

DAY 9:  MELIA SERENGETI LODGE, CENTRAL SERENGETI       

Central Serengeti

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterized by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains, interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite, scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include: game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

DAY 11:  ELEWANA THE MANOR AT NGORONGORO, KARATU          

Karatu

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will inevitably pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional Iraqw homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and elephants caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

DAY 12:  ELEWANA THE MANOR AT NGORONGORO, KARATU          

Spanning more than 20kms in diameter, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest non-flooded caldera in the world and is inhabited by some 25,000 animals. Descend into this green-walled paradise early in the morning on safari. As you ride past herds of zebra and flocks of flamingo, keep your eyes peeled for a pride of lions or a lone leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the floor of the crater. After full day game drive in the cater return for relaxation and dinner at the The Manor.
