DAY 1: ARUSHA PLANET LODGE, ARUSHA

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

Arrive and transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha Planet Lodge.

DAY 2: MARAMBOI TENTED LODGE, LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara National Park

Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with the Lake Manyara on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The park supports 400 species of bird, and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and Egyptian mongoose. Don’t miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest.

DAY 3: TLOMA LODGE, KARATU

Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will inevitably pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional Iraqw homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and elephants caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

DAY 4: SERENGETI NDUTU KATI KATI TENTED CAMP, NDUTU

Ndutu

Set in the Arusha Region, Ndutu is situated in the northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the magnificent Serengeti. The surrounding landscapes are covered in sweeping grasslands which provide the perfect habitat for the migratory route for hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, antelope and zebra. Visitors can look forward to exploring the forest around Lake Ndutu, spotting an array of wildlife, and visiting the fascinating archaeological site at the Olduvai Gorge. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on a game drive to view the spectacular herds of the annual Great Migration, enjoy a scenic hot air balloon ride over the plains and take a guided tour with the local Maasai and learn about culture and traditions. Other commonly spotted species include: leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, serval, African wildcat, and a variety of prolific birdlife.

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge is situated beneath the majestic Oldeani Volcano, and boasts easy access to both the untamed wilderness of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as the simple pleasure of a ramble through 500 acres of farmland.

Ngorongoro Farm House was inaugurated on February 20th 2003, and is offering 52 room cottages, 49 standard rooms and 3 suite rooms, all with ample space inside, built on the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials and full of details of good taste, with the purpose of offering our clients an imaginary journey to the life of the days gone.

DAY 8: MICHAMVI SUNSET BAY, MICHAMVI PENINSULA

Michamvi Peninsula

Stretching over 10 kilometres in length and situated in the southeastern corner of Zanzibar, Michamvi Peninsula is renowned for its spectacular natural beauty, and its array of luxury hotels and tropical island retreats. The peninsula is famed for its pristine palm-fringed beaches lapped by calm crystal-clear waters. Visitors can look forward to a wide range of activities including: snorkelling in the calm waters, jumping on a diving excursion to the thriving barrier reef, and relaxing on the countless unspoilt beaches that line this scenic peninsula. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Zanzibar’s most idyllically-set restaurant; perched on a coral outcrop and only accessible at low tide, ‘The Rock’ serves an impressive array fresh seafood including: prawns, fish, crab, and even crayfish.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast drive back to Arusha for the hot lunch at Amani Restaurant, then transferred to Arusha Airport for the Precision Air flight to Zanzibar, reporting at 1315hrs, depart at 1515hrs, arrive Zanzibar at 1635hrs. Met on arrival and transferred to Coast for the Dinner and Overnight at Mchamvi Sunset Bay Resort on half board basis.

Michamvi Sunset Bay is located on the South East Coast of Zanzibar on the west side of the majestic Chwaka Bay. Positioned on one of Zanzibars most beautiful sandy white beaches. Michamvi has all the attributes for a stunning tropical beach holiday. The 20 room resort is crescent shaped and each room has a genuine ocean view with no room more than 70 metres from the beach or 20 metres from the swimming pool.

Michamvi Sunset Bay has recently been upgraded and has 20 luxurious junior suites all boasting air-conditioners, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, wall safe, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, desk, sofa with comfortable chairs, coffee table and separate dressing area. The rooms have newly installed luxury wasg rooms, 16 equipped with walk in double showers and double basins and 4 with baths, single showers and single basin. Each room has either its own private garden or balcony for guests to enjoy.

The bar is positioned right on the beach and has comfortable lounge chairs and stools perfect for watching the sun go down. The bar serves a variety of delicious cocktails. Guests can choose to sit in the restaurant to enjoy freshly prepared meals or can sit in the new Al Fresco lunch eating area watching the waves lap up onto the beach.
