DAY 1: ELEWANA ARUSHA COFFEE LODGE, ARUSHA

Arusha

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

Met on arrival at the Kilimanjaro international airport by our AMA Safaris Tanzania representative who will transfer you to Arusha for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Overnight: Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge   

Located in the middle of a verdant coffee plantation, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge is a sanctuary of aromatic tranquillity and a welcome retreat after a long international flight, or the dust and excitement of a thrilling bush safari. DAY 2: LEMALA MPINGO RIDGE, TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprising of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, transfer to Arusha Airport for schedule flight to Kuro Airstrip in Tarangire. You will be met by the camp’s vehicle and transferred to the camp for check in and later on lunch. Afternoon game drive and activities offered by the camp. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

Overnight: Lemala Mpingo Ridge    

Lemala Mpingo Ridge sits on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below, matching the same outstanding standards of comfort and service as the other properties in the Lemala Collection.

Guests at Lemala Mpingo Ridge will enjoy a real sense of wilderness and excellent game viewing. It’s both a relaxing standalone destination and a great place to start a safari before venturing on to our Lemala properties in the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. Each of the 15 spacious tented suites have been carefully positioned to maximize the sensational views over Tarangire, also taking advantage of the cooling breezes during hot weather. They feature en-suite bathrooms, private decks, sunken outside lounges that convert to afternoon siesta beds and one of the suites has two bedrooms. A special feature is the private outside bathtub—perfect for soothing the soul and washing away the African dust after a day on safari.

The elevated main lodge has a lounge and bar, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a spa and swimming pool. Our guests can look forward to Sundowners and game drives in new custom-designed vehicles, accompanied by Lemala’s knowledgeable and experienced guides.

DAY 5: SANCTUARY NGORONGORO CRATER CAMP, NGORONGORO CRATER

Ngorongoro Crater

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can look forward to spotting the world-renowned Big Five and a host of other wildlife species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is famed as one of Tanzania’s best tourist attractions offering visitors an array of wonderful activities including excellent bird watching, trekking, wildlife viewing, mountain biking and visiting a local Maasai village. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on an excursion to the magnificent Olduvai Gorge.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge. Transfer to Kuro Airstrip in Tarangire for a schedule flight to Manyara Airstrip where you will be met by Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp vehicle and transferred to the camp for lunch and check in. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Overnight: Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp     

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp comprises ten luxury safari room tents – each with its own ensuite bathroom and indoor bucket shower. The room tents also feature hairdryers, plug points and a small sitting area in front of each of the tents. The three large and comfortable communal tents provide a dining area where scrumptious meals are served, a lounge area perfect for afternoon relaxation, and lounge bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. All of the main areas include breathtaking views of the spectacular surrounding scenery and large trees surrounding this intimate camp. For a more intimate experience you can choose to dine on individual tables set in special spots around the camp.

DAY 6: SANCTUARY NGORONGORO CRATER CAMP, NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and descend over 600 m to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour.

Return to the camp for Overnight Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp.

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and descend over 600m to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour.

DAY 8: ANDBEYOND KLEIN’S CAMP, NORTHERN SERENGETI

Northern Serengeti

The vast, rolling savannah of the Northern Serengeti, is known as the hub of the great migration. The landscape is characterised by vast stretches of savannah interspersed with acacia trees and riverine woodlands. Wildlife can be seen along the banks of the Mara River and visitors can view the annual spectacle of the half a million migrating wildebeest. Commonly spotted wildlife include: a multitude of plains game such as buffalo, zebra, gazelles, impala, giraffe as well as lion and leopard. Visitors can look forward to bird watching, hot air ballooning, game safaris and guided bush walks.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at the lodge followed by check out. Transfer to Manyara Airstrip for schedule flight to Serengeti. Upon arrival in Serengeti, you will be met by Klein’s Camp vehicle and transferred to the camp for lunch. Afternoon of game viewing in Serengeti National Park in camp vehicle on shared basis. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Overnight: andBeyond Klein’s Camp

Deep in a remote corner of the game-rich Serengeti National Park, &Beyond Klein’s Camp consists of ten cottages made of local stone and thatch, with wooden floors and classic interiors. Each cottage has an ensuite bathroom and private veranda with breathtaking views over the surrounding hills and the valley below. A diversity of resident wildlife can be viewed from everywhere in camp – even the kitchen boasts unforgettable views. Camp facilities include a large bar and sitting area, a sparkling pool and a Safari Shop featuring locally-made Maasai crafts. Fresh vegetables picked from the camp’s organic African garden are used to create wholesome dishes. Dinners are served in the main dining area, which is graced by a large open fireplace.

DAY 11: THE RESIDENCE ZANZIBAR, KIZIMKAZI

Kizimkazi

Resting near the southernmost point of Zanzibar’s Unguja island, the remote little fishing village of Kizimkazi is known for its gorgeous stretches of untouched coastline, its excellent diving opportunities and its world-famous dolphin tours. The turquoise waters surrounding the village are home to an abundance of spectacular marine life including several schools of bottlenose dolphins which are frequently sighted during boat trips from the village. Kizimkazi is also renowned as the site of an ancient 12th-century mosque, thought to be the oldest mosque in Africa. Despite its natural and historical wonders, Kizimkazi remains the least visited areas on the island and the lack of tourist numbers only adds to the appeal of this secluded little village.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at the camp followed by check out. Shared transfer to Lobo airstrip for schedule flight to Zanzibar. Met upon arrival and transferred to your resort for dinner and overnight.

Please note; 

  • Non A/C Vehicles are used for transfers in cities and on Safari in Tanzania
  • Luggage limit of one soft bag per person during travel in Tanzania. Hard cases should be avoided as they cannot fit in safari vehicles.
  • Baggage allowance for domestic flights is 15kgs per person including hand luggage. Soft-sided luggage or duffel are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and aircrafts used within East Africa. Large suitcases of dimensions greater than 24″x 17″x 7″ are impossible to store in vehicles and on aircraft and should not be used. (Baggage and personal effects are at owner’s risk throughout the tour and baggage insurance for members is strongly advised).
  • The rate includes accommodation based on the hotels and lodges mentioned in the program using standard rooms. Please be advised that the maximum singles the lodges can give is 4. The rest are charged as doubles.
  • Intermediate stops during flying on domestic flights: Internal flights are designed to serve a complex network throughout Tanzania and Kenya. Please keep in mind that unless otherwise stated flights are not guaranteed to be direct to the destination as there may be intermediate stops to collect or drop off other passengers.
  • Stops on request: Means our ability to stop in an airfield of the customer’s choice. However for operational reasons only a limited number of stops are possible. We request you to enquire in advance.
  • Rainy season: Flights are suspended during the long rains (mid March – end May) for exact dates please contact us.

Contract variations

The contractual costs mentioned above in this agreement are subject to change without prior notice; however, every effort will be made to maintain them. In the event of a change in Government Taxes or Levies affecting the rates mentioned herein, AMA SAFARIS LTD has the right to pass on any increases to our Partners or Clients.

Payment Policy

A deposit of 35% is required at the time of booking.  The balance of 65% is due 45 days before commencement of the tour program.  If the reservation is made within 45 days of departure the whole amount must be paid at the time of confirmation.

Children Policy:

Children between the age of 3 and 12 years

  • Pays 60% of the adult rate if sharing a room with two adults
  • Pays 80% of the adult rate if sharing a room with another children
  • Pays 100% of the adult rates if sharing a room with one adult
  • No discount on Holiday and other supplements

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received in writing. As all suppliers charge cancellation fees, they are in turn passed on to us.

Reservations that are cancelled, reduced in length of stay or reduced in number of occupancy are subject to cancellation and no-show fees. Following is the scale for cancellation charges:

  • 35% if cancelled between 45 and 35 days prior to arrival
  • 50% if cancelled between 34 and 15 days prior to arrival.
  • 100% if cancelled 14 days and 24 hrs prior to arrival

Itinerary Changes:

Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules, it should be noted that the hoteliers in East Africa may be obliged to occasionally change routes on safaris as dictated by changing conditions. Such conditions may be brought about by seasonal rainfall on bush tracks, airfields and in game areas, by game migrations from one region to another, or airline or other booking problems, etc. AMA SAFARIS LTD will communicate with you for such tour itinerary/tour program or accommodation changes
