Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the Elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

DAY 3: SAMBURU INTREPIDS TENTED CAMP, SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Samburu National Reserve
Resting on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River and neighbouring the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, Samburu Game Reserve is remote, hot and arid. The reserve spans over 165 square kilometres of spectacularly scenic landscape featuring rugged hills, undulating plains and riverine forests. The park is home to abundant wildlife including a variety of rare species such as the reticulated giraffe, the long necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s Zebra and Beisa Oryx. Samburu was one of the homes of ‘Elsa the Lioness’, star of the bestselling book and award-winning movie ‘Born Free’. Visitors can enjoy viewing over 900 elephants, a variety of predators, and over 450 bird species.
Day Itinerary
0800hrs – Drive north via Nanyuki and Mt Kenya to the Samburu Game Reserve. Rugged and remote, this wildlife reserve provides some the best and most colourful game viewing in the country. 1230hrs – 1400hrs – Lunch break en-route at Trout Tree Restaurant. Afternoon game drives en-route to your camp. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp.
Overnight: Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp
Dry, rugged and stunning, Samburu’s landscape is at once stark and sensual, with its iconic loaf shaped Lolokowe Mountain and hills spreading in every horizon. Its life lung is the Usao Nyiro River coursing through its craggy terrain full of stone, thorn bush and the forked doum palms. In this arid zone where water is scarce and the land baked by the eternal sun, herds of elephants and the big cats roam the plains with the Samburu special – the Reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and the long necked antelope, the gerenuk easily seen despite its harsh climes. Located 345kms north of Nairobi, the journey to the camp involves a 50-minute flight to the Samburu airstrip followed by a 20-minute drive through the reserve.

DAY 5: SWEETWATERS SERENA TENTED CAMP, OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya’s Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to the last three remaining northern white rhino in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including: zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey and many more. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives.

Breakfast at the overnight camp. After breakfast, drive to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you will arrive in time for check in. Ol Pejeta is a success story in matters conservation. It has played a critical role in conservation of endangered species like Black Rhinos. It is also home to the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya. Lunch at the camp. A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury.
Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. DAY 7: LAKE ELMENTEITA SERENA CAMP, LAKE ELMENTEITA
Lake Elmenteita
Elmenteita, meaning ‘place of dust’, is a small soda lake which attracts many visiting flamingos. It has been named as a World Heritage Site for its prolific birdlife. This is where Kenya’s most famous settler Lord Delamere lived and he was responsible for much of Kenya’s early agricultural experimentation in the fertile area, the area is still inhabited by some of his descendants. The shores are often alive with wildlife and the surrounding forests are perfect for long walks and birding. Visitors can look forward to visiting the Kekopey hot springs, spotting over 400 bird species and game viewing along the lake’s edge, which is abundant with eland, kudu, zebra, gazelle, and warthog families.
Day Itinerary
0800hrs – Drive to Lake Elementaita Serena arriving for lunch and check in. After lunch, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous as the home to thousands of lesser and greater flamingo. This park also provides sanctuary for Rothschild giraffe, rhino and leopard. Afternoon game drive in the Park returning to your camp and dusk. Dinner and overnight at Lake Elementaita Serena Camp.
Overnight: Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp
Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp is located in Kenya’s Soysambu Conservancy and features spectacular views of the surrounding volcanoes. Accommodation is available in deluxe tents and flamingo suites which feature a balcony and modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, mini-fridges, and mosquito nets. Guests may enjoy a meal in the central dining room or outdoors in the bush while watching the sunset. DAY 8: SAROVA MARA GAME CAMP, MASAI MARA
Masai Mara
The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomizes Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve. Aside from horse riding safaris and traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential.

DAY 11: AMBOSELI SERENA SAFARI LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Amboseli National Park
Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
Day Itinerary
After breakfast at camp followed by a morning game drive, rest of the morning at leisure, at 10.00hrs with picnic lunche boxes, transfer to the Keekorok airstrip for your flight to Amboseli departing at 11.00hrs. DAY 13: KILAGUNI SERENA SAFARI LODGE, TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK
Tsavo West National Park
Located in Kenya’s Coast Province, Tsavo West National Park stretches for over 9.000km² and is one of Kenya’s most rewarding parks. Tsavo West is covered in fairly thick bush but has spectacular natural scenery which includes volcanic cones, swamps, rocky outcrops and lava flows like the famous Shetani Lava, mountains, river forest, plains, lakes, natural springs and wooded grassland. Although the game is not as easy to spot as in Tsavo East, it’s all here. Natural attractions include: the Mzima Springs, the main source of water for the Tsavo River; the Chaimu Crater; and the Roaring Rocks, offering panoramic views. Visitors can soak up the dramatic scenery, stay at one of the many fine lodges and spot a variety of wildlife.
Day Itinerary
Depart for an early morning game drive and later return to your lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, depart Amboseli National park and drive over to the Tsavo West National Park. The Park is a vast expansion of African savannah with a more diverse array of habitats which include open plains, semi desert scrub, woodland, Chyulu Hills and rock outcrops. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Later depart for an afternoon game drive in Tsavo West National park. Return to the lodge for dinner and

In the land of lions and lava. Superbly situated in the lee side of Mount Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendour of the Chyulu Hills, this classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited daily by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of plains game. One of the first lodges ever to be built in a national park, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing. It is also ideally placed for visits to all the park’s prime attractions.

Day Itinerary
After breakfast at the lodge, two scheduled game drives are on card for this day. The extensive diverse habitats offer ideal area to search for pride of Lions, Buffaloes, Cheetahs, Giraffe, Zebras, Hippos and the red elephants. Mzima Spring, underground water seepage from Chyulu hills is a good place to watch the Hippos,Crocodiles as well as a wealth and diversity of birds’ species.
