Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum,Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

At the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – ex international flight TBA meet and greet clients from the aircraft side, assisted all through the immigration procedures until handover to our AMA Safaris representative at the arrivals.  Transfer to Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel. DAY 3:  LOYK MARA CAMP, OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY

Olare Motorogi Conservancy

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is an 85km² expanse of prime private wilderness in southwest Kenya which forms part of the Maasai Mara – Serengeti ecosystem and wildlife dispersal zone. The conservancy lies immediately to the northwest of the main Maasai Mara Reserve. Tourism is limited to a maximum of 94 beds which maximizes the client wilderness experience and minimizes the environmental impact of tourism. Open hills provide a habitat for a diverse range of grazers, including giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, and warthogs. These herds attract large numbers of predators, including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. In between the hills run a number of small seasonal streams, fringed by stretches of forest which are home to a broader range of species including baboons, elephants, buffalos, hippos, and leopards.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, drive to the Masai Mara offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Arrive for lunch at your Camp. Afternoon game drives until sunset. Dinner and overnight at Loyk Mara Camp

Overnight: Loyk Mara Camp          

Loyk Mara Camp is exclusively located in Olare Motorogi Conservancy on the boarder of Ntiakitiak River. The Camp has been settled down on 50 acres of private land where you are surrounded by nothing else but exceptional and stunning scenery and a panoramic background view of wildlife.

The Camp has 10 fabulously luxurious en-suite rooms that captures the essence of the modernized African design, culture and tradition in combination with a stylish and exclusive atmosphere, excellent food and personalized services. We accommodate business and leisure travelers and make sure their stay with us is memorable.

For fly in Clients we use Olekiombo Airstrip 20km from the camp and take 30 minutes drive with the game drives to the camp. For drive in from Nairobi It’s between 6 – 7hours drive with stopovers.

DAY 4: LOYK MARA CAMP, OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY

Day Itinerary

Whole day in Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Masai Mara National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. The early morning calm air of the Maasai Mara has made possible the introduction of Hot Air Balloon flights, available as an optional tour of a hot air balloon ride to see the park from a bird’s eye view, from leading lodges and camps in the reserve. (Please reserve early to avoid disappointment for this adventure!). Pre-breakfast morning game drive in the reserve, a great opportunity to explore the vast flora and fauna of this magnificent reserve.  After a rewarding game drive, return to your lodge for late morning breakfast. Lunch and late afternoon Game viewing drive.

OPTION: A full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes (full day game drive including visits to Mara River, Kenya Tanzania Border Post and a great chance to view the “Big Five”. You will have picnic lunch at Hippo Pool. Return to your lodge late in the afternoon). Later just relax or visit the nearby Maasai village as an optional excursion.

DAY 5: LAKE ELEMENTAITA SERENA CAMP, LAKE ELMENTEITA        

Lake Elmenteita

Elmenteita, meaning ‘place of dust’, is a small soda lake which attracts many visiting flamingos. It has been named as a World Heritage Site for its prolific birdlife. This is where Kenya’s most famous settler Lord Delamere lived and he was responsible for much of Kenya’s early agricultural experimentation in the fertile area, the area is still inhabited by some of his descendants. The shores are often alive with wildlife and the surrounding forests are perfect for long walks and birding. Visitors can look forward to visiting the Kekopey hot springs, spotting over 400 bird species and game viewing along the lake’s edge, which is abundant with eland, kudu, zebra, gazelle, and warthog families.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the Camp, depart to Lake Elementaita Serena Camp arriving in time for check in and lunch. Rest of the afternoon free / at leisure, dinner and overnight at Lake Elementaita Serena Camp.

Uniquely situated on the shoreline of sapphire-blue Lake Elmenteita where hundreds of thousands of birds congregate, the small and exclusive Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp opened in July 2011. DAY 6: LAKE NAKURU SOPA LODGE, LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK       

Lake Nakuru National Park

Located in the Great Rift Valley surrounded by yellow acacia woodlands and bushy scrublands, the Lake Nakuru National Park was created to protect the Lake and its large flocks of Lesser Flamingo, which are drawn to the algae that flourish in the saline waters of this soda lake. The national park is inhabited by over 50 mammal species including hippo, black and white rhino, Rothschild giraffe, buffalo and eland. Known as a bird watcher’s paradise, the park is home to over 450 bird species. Visitors can look forward to hiking through the scenic landscape, picnicking next to this magnificent lake, and spotting an array of wildlife on a game drive. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the beautiful Makalia Waterfall.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast you will be collected for the day’s drive taking you to Lake Nakuru National Park, lunch at your lodge. After Lunch you will proceed on an afternoon game drive in National Park. The Lake has good density of fauna and it is one Park that within few minutes of game drives, you will achieve quite a lot in terms of sightings. It is also a bird watchers haven. After the game drive proceed back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge

Lake Nakuru Sopa lodge is located on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley; the Lodge offers spectacular views over the vastness of Lake Nakuru and its surrounding National Park. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos and other water birds being the major attraction of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white and black rhino, buffaloes and others.

The Lodge is 20km from the park main gate and 15 minutes drive from Naishi airstrip. Lodge consist of 60 rooms which include 2 inter-connecting rooms, 2 rooms accessible on wheel chair. Rooms are grouped into single, twin or triple rooms. All rooms have a clear view of the lake and you are able to view the sun rise from the balcony. All rooms have safe box, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar is stocked on request and telephone extensions are also provided in all rooms.

DAY 7:  AMBOSELI SOPA LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK        

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the overnight lodge, you will depart Lake Nakuru National Park and drive to Amboseli National Park via Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at Amboseli Sopa Lodge.  Amboseli National Park which is set at the foot of the most famous symbol of Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro.  There will be afternoon game drive and dinner and overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge  

Nestled in 190 acres of wooded Masai land, the Lodge sits on the foothills of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.  Mature wooded gardens with a variety of trees and plants thrive in these surroundings.  Different species of birds, monkeys and squirrels dart through the gardens. There are 83 rooms in total; some with interconnecting doors – ideal for families – and 24 rooms can be turned into triples on request.  Two rooms are suitable for the physically challenged, and one room is a honeymoon suite.  The rooms are constructed as individual huts, and they are all spacious, with en-suite bathrooms and verandahs.  Local materials and colours are used for furnishings, maintaining the African theme.  The totally private and spacious honeymoon suite has an ornamental fireplace and kitchenette.  A spacious verandah surrounds the suite, ideal for viewing the mountain in its glory.

DAY 8: AMBOSELI SOPA LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK        

Day Itinerary

This is your full day with a morning and afternoon game viewing to explore the Amboseli National Park. Famous for its large herds of elephants and in particular their big tusker, a day in Amboseli is surely a highlight of your safari.

DAY 9: TARANGIRE SOPA LODGE, TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK       

Tarangire National Park

Located just a few hours’ drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for safaris travelling through the northern circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park extends into two game controlled areas and the wildlife is allowed to move freely throughout. After the Serengeti, Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania and in the dry season the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. This is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are regularly spotted.  Tarangire is also known for its spectacular baobab trees and its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the mountains to the south.

Day Itinerary

Today we will enjoy an early breakfast then depart to Namanga border and handover to your our Tanzania representative driver guide.  Depart to Arusha Coffee Lodge for your lunch. Later proceed to Tarangire Sopa Lodge is located just outside the borders of Tarangire National Park, approx. 2.5hrs’ drive from Arusha. Game drives are taken inside Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River which originates in Tanzania’s central highland. The river and the wetland areas lure thousands of plains game and huge elephant herds but there is also an incredible variety of bird life.  The park’s gigantic baobab trees provide exceptional photo opportunities.  We will enjoy an afternoon game drive into Tarangire National Park.

Overnight: Tarangire Sopa Lodge  

Hidden among the kopjes, lies Tarangire Sopa Lodge, surrounded by ancient baobab trees, it is the home of the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa, and other game including the elusive leopard. Over 400 bird species can be spotted here as well. With water constantly available in the area, the greenery is lush providing a wonderful contrast to the burnt ground.

DAY 10: TARANGIRE SOPA LODGE, TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

DAY 11:  NGORONGORO SOPA LODGE, NGORONGORO CRATER   

Ngorongoro Crater

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can look forward to spotting the world-renowned Big Five and a host of other wildlife species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is famed as one of Tanzania’s best tourist attractions offering visitors an array of wonderful activities including excellent bird watching, trekking, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking with visiting a local Maasai village. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on an excursion to the magnificent Olduvai Gorge.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Perched on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, the magnificent Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is the only property on the eastern rim of this World Heritage Site. Accommodating 186 guests in its 97 spacious en-suite bedrooms, the Lodge has its own private road to the crater floor.  The Lodge is perfectly situated to explore the abundant game in what is often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”.  Its location offers awe-inspiring views over the crater and some of the most breathtaking sunsets to be seen in Tanzania. This morning after breakfast, you will depart with picnic lunches and drive to the floor of the crater. Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. Its enduring charm stems from its overwhelming physical beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Enjoy your picnic lunch at the crater before you ascend to the crater rim.  Drive back to the Lodge.

DAY 13: SERENGETI SOPA LODGE, CENTRAL SERENGETI       

Central Serengeti

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains, interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite, scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include: game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, drive to the Serengeti National Park, undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. En route visit the Olduvai Gorge site of archaeological findings, where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered. Arrive for lunch at your lodge. Afternoon game drives until sunset.Dinner and overnoght at Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Offering arguably the best wildlife to be seen anywhere in Africa, the Serengeti National Park provides the perfect backdrop for the Serengeti Sopa Lodge. Located in the Nyarboro Hills in the south-west of this world-famous park, the lodge has panoramic views over the savannah.  An almost constant southerly breeze keeps the temperature at a comfortable level.

DAY 14: SERENGETI SOPA LODGE, CENTRAL SERENGETI       

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, full day in Serengeti with scheduled morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National park. We awaken to the sounds of Africa and begin our day with a morning game drive, affording an intimate and profoundly personal bond to the world of the wild. Our expert driver guide is hard at work, pointing our each individual miracle of the land that we are now part of.

An extensive afternoon game drives run explores the depths of the deep Serengeti. Everywhere there are animals, including monkeys and yes birds…but look closely and you will thrill to the huge jungles cats- Lions, Leopards and cheetahs just watching the earth go by. And go by it does: rhino, gazelles, antelopes and massive elephants by the herds. There are animals in the trees, on the wing, camouflaged in the bush, in rivers and streams.

DAY 15: KILIMAMOJA LODGE, LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK       

Lake Manyara National Park

Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with the Lake Manyara on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The park supports 400 species of bird, and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and Egyptian mongoose. Don’t miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions which may declare our day’s quest, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, thereafter depart to Lake Manyara National Park.  Arrive for check and lunch at the Lodge, afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge.

Overnight: Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge       

Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge is nestled on the rim of the Great African Rift Valley with stunning views of Lake Manyara, Mount Meru and on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge is situated in lush green gardens and local vegetation with over 130 species of bird. It offers an ideal place in which to base a northern safari experience. The Ngorongoro Crater, Oldeani, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Highlands are just a short drive away from the lodge. Sitting around the outside fireplace watching the sun setting over the Great Rift Valley and listening to the humming of the birds in the background is a fitting way to end the day, and preparing for a sumptuous dinner feast.
