DAY 1:  2000 HOTEL, KIGALI      

Kigali

Rwanda’s capital and biggest city stretches across undulating lush hills surrounded by towering mountains, the largest of which is Mount Kigali, rising 1850 metres above sea level. Kigali is the country’s financial, commercial and cultural hub, served by an international airport and featuring a wide range of accommodation options, restaurants and points of interest, including the Kigali Genocide Centre, an atmospheric market and numerous craft shops. With its interesting architecture, busy streets, meandering boulevards, and green hillsides, Kigali is said to be one of the most attractive cities in Africa and is definitely worth a visit.

Day Itinerary

On arrival at Kigali International Airport on Ex International Flight at …….hrs, you will be welcomed by our Safari’s team, who will transfer you to the hotel and assist you with check in. The rest of your day will be spent at Leisure. Lunch and Dinner will be on own arrangement.

DAY 3:  MOUNTAIN GORILLA VIEW LODGE, VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Volcanoes National Park  –‘Parc Nacional de Volcans’

Bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rwanda, the Volcanoes National Park is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare Mountain Gorillas. Visitors flock here to experience a face to face encounter with these intriguing creatures. The park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Highly regulated treks through the reserve allow visitors to spend an hour at a time with these incredible primates in their natural habitat. While the Gorilla’s are without a doubt the main drawcard, visitors can also look forward to exploring a network of scenic hiking trails, visiting the tomb of the world-famous Dian Fossey and the Karisoke Research Centre, and enjoying a beautiful day hike to the Crater Lake on Mount Bisoke.

Day Itinerary

0700hrs. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel followed by a city tour, visit the Genocide Memorial Museum and Lunch at a Local Restaurant in Kigali, thereafter, depart on a scenic drive to the Volcanoes National park. The journey to north passes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape and gradually climbs to the base of the Virunga Volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Arrive at your Lodge in the late afternoon, rest of your afternoon to be spent at leisure. Dinner and Overnight at the Lodge

Overnight: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge

The Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is perfectly situated for gorilla tracking in Rwanda. The 30 individual cottages have been built on 4 acres of land on the slopes of Mt Sabinyo. The stone and thatch cottages each have en-suite facilities, a small lounge with a fire place and a private veranda. The cottages are of a good size and are well positioned to give them privacy from each other. Being at altitude, it can get cold therefore each cottage has a fireplace in the room. Located very close (about 15 minutes) from the main headquarters of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park (Parc Nacional de Volcans), this is a very handy base from which to explore the area and organise treks to see the Golden monkeys and, of course, the mountain gorillas. This is a great location with superb views of the volcanoes.

DAY 4: MOUNTAIN GORILLA VIEW LODGE, VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Day Itinerary

0630hrs: Breakfast at the overnight Lodge. 0700hrs, today you will have the opportunity to observe the famous Rwandan Mountain Gorillas. Tracking the gorillas through the forested slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get closest to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Return to the Lodge for Lunch followed by Leisure in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight at the Lodge.

DAY 5: EKA HOTEL, NAIROBI     

Nairobi

Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum,Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the Elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Day Itinerary

0630hrs: Breakfast at the hotel followed by a drive to the Volcanoes National Park for Golden monkeys trekking which takes place in Volcanoes national park same as gorilla trekking. These rare species are also listed as endangered – and Volcanoes national park currently has two habituated golden monkeys’ troops that are available for visiting by tourists in the park.

Enjoy Lunch at The Lodge before you depart from the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, driving South past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a breathtaking scenic drive back to Kigali. On arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred to Kigali International airport for your departure flight Kenya Airways KQ 475 departing at 1925hrs to arrive at 2155hrs: On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted by a our AMA Safaris representative and be transferred to Eka Hotel for your overnight (BB). Dinner on own arrangement.

DAY 6: OL TUKAI LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, drive to Amboseli National Park lying below the most famous symbol of Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro. Arrive in time for check in and lunch at the lodge. 1545hrs. Proceed for an afternoon game drive. 1800hrs – Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge  

Ol Tukai Lodge is one of the best spots in the world to watch elephants with the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Writers have described Ol Tukai and the surrounding Amboseli National Park as ‘a home for the gods’. A place of rugged beauty, abundant water, lush green grass and forest, set like an oasis in the surrounding savannah shrubland. To crown it all, this is where you get one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights – dawn breaks and the sunsets over the 19,000-foot snow-capped dome of Africa’s highest mountain!

DAY 8: SWEETWATERS SERENA CAMP, OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya’s Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to the last three remaining northern white rhino in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including: zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey and many more. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, transfer to the Amboseli airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi departing at 0815hrs and arriving at 0850hrs

Met on arrival by your driver guide and by road drive to Ol Pejeta Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive for lunch at the camp.  This ranch was once the private domain of the famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi in 80s/90s. The conservancy is home to the endangered Chimpanzee, and a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and black rhino with its stunning forty specimens. Olpejeta Sanctuary boasts excellent game viewing. Sweetwaters camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick hence attracts lots of wildlife. 1600hrs: Afternoon game drives returning for dinner and overnight at your camp.

Overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Camp      

A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Tented Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury. Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. The central Rhino Restaurant is housed in the former manager’s house of this once colonial farm, and offers both regional and international cuisine. Also within the house is the Kashoggi Bar and lounge, which centres on a blazing log fire. The Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers unrivalled wildlife – watching.

DAY 10: FLAMINGO HILL TENTED CAMP, LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Nakuru

Nakuru is a city on the shores of western Kenya’s Lake Nakuru, within a reserve that sprawls across almost 200 square kilometres. It is the capital of Nakuru County, located in the Great Rift Valley. Ten kilometres from town lies the massive Menengai Crater. A hiking trail leads up to the rim of this ancient caldera, offering bird’s eye views over the lake and surrounds then plunges 400 metres down to the floor below, where you will find ancient forests. Lake Nakuru National Park, surrounding Nakuru, is home to exceptional birdlife, as well as over 50 varieties of mammals. These include lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhino, antelope and various primates.

Day Itinerary

0700hrs. After breakfast proceed to Lake Nakuru national Park, regarded by avid birders’ as the greatest World Ornithological spectacle on Earth.  Arrive for lunch at Flamingo Hill Tented Camp. The Park is Sanctuary to the Black Rhino, White Rhino and the Rothschild Giraffe and a variety of bird life. 1600hrs: Afternoon game drives returning to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Flamingo Hill Tented Camp     

Flamingo Hill Camp is situated within the famous Lake Nakuru National Park, which lies within the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. Nestled between the “honeymoon hills”, and set in beautifully landscaped grounds with natural foliage and a variety of indigenous African plants and flowers, Flamingo Hill Camp provides superb, tented accommodation. Flamingo Hill Camp is an eco-friendly establishment. Part of the money earned from the camp is used for environmental restoration and endangered species. DAY 11: ASHNIL MARA CAMP, MASAI MARA

Masai Mara 

One of Kenya’s undisputed natural highlights is the Masai Mara National Reserve, which sprawls across more than 1510km² of the country’s southwest. The park protects a phenomenal array of game, including charismatic species such as elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, as well as crocodile and hippopotamus in the Mara River. The birdlife is no less impressive, with over 450 resident bird species. However, the true highlight here is the Great Migration, recognised as one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. To survive the dry months of July to September, some 1.7 million wildebeest migrate from the parched plains of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Along with much smaller numbers of antelope buffalo and zebra, they move to the more forgiving grasslands of the Masai Mara. In their wake come predators such as lion, hyena and cheetah, for whom these giant herds are an easy source of prey.

Day Itinerary

0700hrs. Breakfast and check out from the hotelDrive through Narok town to Masai Mara National Reserve.  Arrive in time for lunch at Ashnil Mara Camp. Afternoon game drive and visit to a Masai Village before heading back to the lodge.

DAY 13: ANG’ATA MIGRATION BOLOGONJA CAMP, NORTHERN SERENGETI

Northern Serengeti

The vast, rolling savannah of the Northern Serengeti is known as the hub of the great migration. The landscape is characterized by vast stretches of savannah interspersed with acacia trees and riverine woodlands. Wildlife can be seen along the banks of the Mara River and visitors can view the annual spectacle of the half a million migrating wildebeest. Commonly spotted wildlife include: a multitude of plains game such as buffalo, zebra, gazelles, impala, giraffe as well as lion and leopard. Visitors can look forward to bird watching, hot air ballooning, game safaris and guided bush walks.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the camp. Transfer to the airstrip for your schedule flight to Migori departing at 0845hrs.
1040hrs: Met by the airline’s representatives and transfer to Isebania border for customs and immigration formalities. Later transfer to Tarime airstrip for your schedule flight to Serengeti National Park departing at 1130hrs.

1230hrs: Met on arrival by our Tanzania representative guide and transfer to Angata Migration Camp for check in and lunch. Afternoon game drives in the park.  Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Ang’ata Migration Bologonja Camp  

Located near the Bologonja Ranger Post, the camp is an hours’ drive away from Mara River where you can witness the world famous River Crossing, with Nile Crocodiles laying in ambush and Big Cats on the shores awaiting the Migration from July to October. Set in front of a big plain you will most certainly be in the company of thousands of Wildebeest while enjoying your cup of coffee or tea in front of your tent.

Ang’ata Migration Bologonja Camp has 12 large guest tents including a 2 tent family unit, a lounge and a dining tent. Each guest tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, vanity desk and flush toilets. Depending on request a king-size bed or 2 twin beds or triples are available. The lounge is the place to meet other travellers and share your day’s safari stories while enjoying a complementary cup of Tanzanian coffee or tea. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served in the dining tent, freshly prepared by the chefs on a daily basis. Bush TV (local name for camp fire) is lit when the weather permits.

DAY 15: SERENGETI TORTILIS CAMP, SERONERA CENTRAL SERENGETI

Seronera – Central Serengeti

The Seronera region, in the central Serengeti, is set directly on the Great Migration route, and offers excellent viewing of this incredible annual phenomenon, when countless wildebeest flood across the plains. While migratory game populations fluctuate seasonally, Seronera is still a wildlife hotspot at other times of the year, sheltering the Big Five, among many other species. A number of small campsites provide accommodation and visitors can enjoy hot air balloon trips and walking safaris as well as guided game drives.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at camp. 0800hrs. Drive to Central Serengeti with a game drive enroute. Serengeti is undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its earth natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drives to the kopjes. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Overnight: Serengeti Tortilis Camp

DAY 16: LEMALA NGORONGORO TENTED CAMP, NGORONGORO CRATER

Ngorongoro Crater

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can look forward to spotting the world-renowned Big Five and a host of other wildlife species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is famed as one of Tanzania’s best tourist attractions offering visitors an array of wonderful activities including excellent bird watching, trekking, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking and visiting a local Maasai village. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on an excursion to the magnificent Olduvai Gorge.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast and check out from camp. Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. Its enduring charm stems from its overwhelming beauty and the abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Enroute, visit Ol Duvai Gorge archaeological site for the early man,

Arrive at the Lodge in time for Lunch and check in. Afternoon spent at leisure with dinner and overnight at the camp.

Overnight: Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp

Lemala Ngorongoro is intimately set in a delightful ancient acacia forest close to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. As it is located next to the quiet Lemala crater access road on the eastern side, a key advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the quick and easy drive down on to the crater floor in the morning; Lemala guests usually have an hour’s head start over others descending via the far busier Seneto crater access road on the western rim. Game drives from camp may start as early as 6.15am and guests can be down among Ngorongoro’s abundant wildlife on the floor within 10-15 minutes – crucial for photographers who demand the best light conditions. Escorted walks are also available into the forest and along the crater rim with an armed ranger and Maasai guide.

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp has 9 spacious tents that are positioned carefully to provide privacy and with minimal impact on the pristine forest environment. They accommodate two queen-size beds, and as it can get cool on the Ngorongoro Crater rim at night, little luxuries like warm winter-weight duvets, hot water bottles and gas heaters ensure a cosy night’s sleep.

DAY 17: LEMALA NGORONGORO TENTED CAMP, NGORONGORO CRATER

Day Itinerary

After early breakfast at the camp. Depart with packed picnic lunch boxes and descend over 600 meters to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour. Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkey, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos, the shallow marsh where the hippos reside and the open Savannah where the lions hunt for food.

Later in the afternoon, transfer back to your camp on the crater rim where you will spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Camp

Breakfast followed by check out depart from Ngorongoro Conservation Area and drive back to Arusha, arriving for lunch at the Cultural Heritage. After lunch, transfer to the Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar for beach- PW 427 departing at 1615hrs  or back home
