Khwai Private Reserve
Welcome to Khwai Private Reserve, 440 000 acres bordering onto both the Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. It is an innovative community based joint venture partnership that adjoins onto the world famous Okavango Delta eco-system. The Reserve was established to create a meaningful bridge between the tourism industry and local villagers, ensuring significant economic income for local communities, first world environmentally sensitive practices and a superb safari experience.
The massive Khwai Private Reserve comprises of some of the most fantastically diverse habitats in northern Botswana, including riverine woodlands, floodplains, open savannah, mopane woodland, rivers and lagoons. This range of habitats results in a range of wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, and cheetah and of course the eponymous sable antelope.

Overnight: Hyena Pan Tented Camp
Hyena Pan is a tented bush lodge on a private conservation area east of Moremi Game Reserve. The camp is built around a permanent water hole to the north west of Moremi Game Reserve’s northern gate. This is one of the few permanent water holes in this area and attracts elephants and other wildlife. The water hole is also part of the elephant route between Savuti in the Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, and as such we see movement of elephant through the area constantly. The camp is rustic yet comfortable, its charming simplicity making it the perfect getaway into the wilderness.

DAY 9 – 10: MOSAIC LAGOON LODGE, WHALE COAST
Whale Coast
Encompassing the towns of Kleinmond, Hermanus, Stanford and Gansbaai, the Whale Coast is an area of incredible natural beauty and diversity. This rugged stretch of South African coastline snakes along the Atlantic Ocean, with magnificent fynbos-blanketed mountains rising up from the interior.
The spectacular scenery is made up of charming seaside villages, farms, rivers, coves and valleys, and during the right season, the region’s namesake – whales – can be seen cruising and wallowing in the coastal waters. Visitors can enjoy visiting the little villages dotting the area, bird watching, whale watching, wine tasting, paragliding, fat bike rides, river rafting, game viewing, mountain biking, and golfing. Don’t miss a visit to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary in Gansbaai.

4×4 Beach Excursions to adjacent Walker Bay Beach
Location sets Mosaic apart from all others, with Walker Bay next door. From Lagoon Lodge, hop onto an open 4×4 vehicle and discover fynbos, birds and the pristine Walker Bay Beach and Nature Reserve and enjoy beautiful sunsets over the ocean. Canapés and beverages are enjoyed while watching for sights of fascinating marine life.
Between June and December, Southern Right Whales migrate from Antarctica to the shelter of Walker Bay to court, mate and calf. Whales can be viewed from the top of sand dunes while sipping a favourite drink. September through November is the height of whale season.
Quad Biking on Mosaic
Guided quad-bike tours will take you exploring through fynbos clad hills, lagoon wetlands and spotting fantastic birds. Ride along the edge of the lagoon or up to high points on Mosaic with 360°views of the ocean, lagoon, and mountains. Mosaic’s professional guides make the intricacies of creation come alive.
Area Activity – Whale watching & Marine Ocean Tours
Between June and December, Southern Right Whales migrate from Antarctica to the southern tip of Africa to court, mate and calf. Walker Bay is the best place in the world to view these enormous mammals. This trip takes you by boat in search of the Marine Big 5: Whales, Great White Shark, African penguin, Cape Fur Seal, and dolphin.
Area Activity – Archaeological Cave Tour
Just down the coast from Mosaic lies one of the most important archaeological heritage sites in the Western Cape, Klipgat Cave. This cave system was formed millions of years ago and it is believed was occupied by humans up to 70,000 years ago. The Khoi Khoi people occupied this cave system and lived on shellfish and animals in the area at that time. The cave can be toured and an 8 km beach walk can be enjoyed along with sundowners on the beach and 4×4 trips back to Mosaic.
Boat Cruise on the Hermanus Lagoon
Board the “Spirit of Agnus” from the shores of Mosaic on the Hermanus Lagoon for an excursion among water birds and the towering Overberg Mountains. The cruise goes to a bird sanctuary that is part of Mosaic (in front of Lagoon Lodge), or to the mouth of the lagoon where it opens into the Atlantic Ocean. Drinks and snacks are enjoyed while cruising.

Idyllically situated in the Cape Wine lands, this peaceful country retreat is one of the oldest towns in South Africa. The once sleepy little village was named Franschhoek, meaning ‘French Corner’ as it was founded by French Huguenots.
The fertile valley of Franschhoek boasts a rich heritage showcased at the fascinating Huguenot Memorial Museum and the Cape Dutch architecture in much of the village remains remarkably well preserved.

Luggage limits on all light aircraft transfers is strictly 20kgs in SOFT duffle type bags, measuring no more than 25cm (10 inches) wide, 30cm (12 inches) high and 62 cm (24 inches) long.
