DAY 1: LAKE DULUTI LODGE, ARUSHA

Arusha

Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Day Itinerary

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport,[JRO} clear with customs and immigration formalities, exit the arrival terminal and Met by AMA Safaris Tanzania representative. After introduction you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha, Overnight at Lake Duluti Lodge – Bed & Breakfast

Overnight: Lake Duluti Lodge

The lodge is made up of 19 spacious contemporary African styled suites ideally positioned for maximum privacy and view. These romantic chalets are located inside thirty acres working coffee farm in a safe and exclusive area in the outskirts of Arusha.

DAY 2: LAKE MANYARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE, LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara National Park

Situated in Tanzania’s central-northern region with the Lake Manyara on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west, the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats supporting an array of wildlife. This small park is home to surprising biodiversity and features a magnificent landscape of acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself.

The park supports 400 species of bird, and the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Other species include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, the Cape clawless otter, and Egyptian mongoose. Don’t miss the opportunity to see thousands of flamingos on the lake, the renowned tree-climbing lions, and large families of elephants strolling through the forest.

Overnight: Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge

Standing high on the bluff of a dramatic ochre and terracotta streaked cliff above the flamingo-frosted expanse of Lake Manyara’s gleaming alkaline waters, the Lodge commands panoramic views across the volcano-studded floor of the Great Rift Valley.  Designed to reflect the brilliance of Lake Manyara’s unique birdlife, the Lodge draws on an inspirational architectural motif that melds swooping avian curves with the gentle concentric patterns of traditional Maasai ‘Bomas’ (encampments) whilst the vibrantly coloured frescoes lining the walls are designed to depict the colourful intricacy of bird migratory patterns.  The ambiance of the Lodge is a fusion of lakeside tranquillity, towering volcanic splendour and adventure-packed sporting activity.

As to wildlife, the park offers abundant sightings of; monkey, jackal, mongoose, hyena, hyrax, zebra, hippo, warthog, buffalo, Masai giraffe, duiker, waterbuck and impala. Significant numbers of elephant are also resident in the Park whilst sightings of black rhino and leopard are not uncommon. Manyara is also especially noted for its wealth of bird life, being visited by many thousands of sugar-pink Lesser Flamingos, significant numbers of Greater Flamingos and a host of other woodland, plains and water birds

DAY 3: NGORONGORO SOPA LODGE, NGORONGORO CRATER   

Ngorongoro Crater

Located in Northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is best known for its natural beauty and abundance of diverse wildlife; which makes it one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations. Surrounded by Tanzania’s highlands, this UNESCO-listed crater is said to be the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Visitors can look forward to spotting the world-renowned Big Five and a host of other wildlife species including large herds of zebra and wildebeest. It is famed as one of Tanzania’s best tourist attractions offering visitors an array of wonderful activities including excellent bird watching, trekking, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking and visiting a local Maasai village. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on an excursion to the magnificent Olduvai Gorge.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge  

Perched on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, the magnificent Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is the only property on the eastern rim of this World Heritage Site. Accommodating 186 guests in its 97 spacious en-suite bedrooms, the Lodge has its own private road to the crater floor.  The Lodge is perfectly situated to explore the abundant game in what is often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”.  Its location offers awe-inspiring views over the crater and some of the most breathtaking sunsets to be seen in Tanzania.

Each suite has a private lounge with mini-bar, en-suite bathroom, central heating and a private solarium.  The Lodge has telephone facilities, satellite TV, a conference room, and a swimming pool situated on the very edge of the rim.

DAY 4: SERENGETI SERENA SAFARI LODGE, CENTRAL SERENGETI       

Central Serengeti

Situated in the heart of Tanzania, the Central Serengeti encompasses the world-famous Seronera Valley which is known for its prime wildlife-viewing opportunities. This picture-perfect landscape is characterised by endless stretches of savannah-covered open plains, interspersed by rocky outcrops of granite, scattered with acacia woodlands and covered in a network of rivers and streams. The Central Serengeti forms part of the great wildebeest and zebra migration and provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife such as giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, serval and much more. Popular activities include: game viewing, cultural tours, horse riding safaris, and hot air ballooning over the spectacularly scenic terrain.

Overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge    

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is situated high a tree clad ridge, commanding panoramic views across the Serengeti. The lodge is a fusion of traditional African architecture and modern style. Centrally located adjacent to the Western Corridor and Grumeti River, the lodge has been designed to blend completely into the living landscape. A series of traditional domed rondavels are widely spaced throughout the grounds, which are cooled by groves of acacia trees and watered by sparkling streams. On the very edge of the ridge is a pool, which looks out over the endless plains. The lodge has been styled to offer a showcase of cultural performance, heritage and traditional art, illustrated by the lavish Makonde carvings which decorate the rooms and the stunning domed dining room.

After breakfast at the lodge, full day in Serengeti with scheduled morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National park

Immerse yourself in the splendour of the Serengeti Great Plains, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. Discover the park’s iconic creatures on an optional hot-air balloon safari at sunrise, and set out in a 4×4 on morning and afternoon safaris through the golden grasslands. With luck, spot all of Africa’s “big five”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo.

Please note; 

  • Non A/C Vehicles are used for transfers in cities and on Safari in Tanzania
  • Luggage limit of one soft bag per person during travel in East Africa. Hard cases should be avoided as they cannot fit in safari vehicles.
  • Baggage allowance for domestic flights is 15kgs per person including hand luggage. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and aircrafts used within East Africa. Large suitcases of dimensions greater than 24″x 17″x 7″ are impossible to store in vehicles and on aircraft and should not be used. (Baggage and personal effects are at owner’s risk throughout the tour and baggage insurance for members is strongly advised).
  • The rate includes accommodation based on the hotels and lodges mentioned in the program using standard rooms. Please be advised that the maximum singles the lodges can give is 4. The rest are charged as doubles.
  • ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION: In the case of a confirmed booking being re-routed for whatever reason we will endeavour to move guests to an equivalent level property subject to availability and with prior agreement with the operator/agent/client and we reserve the right to do so in the best interests of all concerned

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Contract variations

The contractual costs mentioned above in this agreement are subject to change without prior notice; however, every effort will be made to maintain them. In the event of a change in Government Taxes or Levies affecting the rates mentioned herein, AMA SAFARIS has the right to pass on any increases to our Partners or Clients.

Payment Policy

A deposit of 35% is required at the time of booking. The balance of 65% is due 45 days before commencement of the tour program.  If the reservation is made within 45 days of departure the whole amount must be paid at the time of confirmation.

Children Policy:

Children between the age of 3 and 12 years

  • Pays 60% of the adult rate if sharing a room with two adults
  • Pays 80% of the adult rate if sharing a room with another children
  • Pays 100% of the adult rates if sharing a room with one adult
  • No discount on Holiday and other supplements

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received in writing. As all suppliers charge cancellation fees, they are in turn passed on to us.

Reservations that are cancelled, reduced in length of stay or reduced in number of occupancy are subject to cancellation and no-show fees. Following is the scale for cancellation charges:

  • 35% if cancelled between 45 and 35 days prior to arrival
  • 50% if cancelled between 34 and 15 days prior to arrival.
  • 100% if cancelled 14 days and 24 hrs prior to arrival

Itinerary Changes:

Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules, it should be noted that the hoteliers in East Africa may be obliged to occasionally change routes on safaris as dictated by changing conditions.

Such conditions may be brought about by seasonal rainfall on bush tracks, airfields and in game areas, by game migrations from one region to another, or airline or other booking problems, etc. AMA SAFARIS will communicate with you for such tour itinerary/tour program or accommodation changes.
