DAY 1: MOVENPICK HOTEL & RESIDENCES NAIROBI, NAIROBI

Nairobi

Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the World’s only urban National Park. Make sure you pay a visit to the Elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will clear with customs and immigration procedures. You will then be met by our AMA Safaris representative outside the arrivals hall for transfer to your hotel. You will be assisted with check in formalities. Dinner own arrangement. DAY 2: SAROVA LION HILL GAME LODGE, NAKURU

Nakuru

Nakuru is a city on the shores of western Kenya’s Lake Nakuru, within a reserve that sprawls across almost 200 square kilometres. It is the capital of Nakuru County, located in the Great Rift Valley. Ten kilometres from town lies the massive Menengai Crater. A hiking trail leads up to the rim of this ancient caldera, offering bird’s eye views over the lake and surrounds then plunges 400 metres down to the floor below, where you will find ancient forests. Lake Nakuru National Park, surrounding Nakuru, is home to exceptional birdlife, as well as over 50 varieties of mammals. These include lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhino, antelope and various primates.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru National Park was once described as the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world and it spans an attractive range of wooded and bush grassland around the lake, offering wide ecological diversity – from the lake waters, woodland to the rocky escarpment and ridges. During the game drive, you may have the opportunity to see various wildlife both predatory and plains game, not forgetting the abundance of bird life. This park also serves as home to both the white and black rhino.  Meals and overnight stay at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge – LDBB

Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru National Park was created in 1968 to protect the huge flocks of over of the lesser flamingo that breed and nest at the edge of Lake Nakuru, giving it the characteristic pink rim. Lake Nakuru National Park, located at an altitude of 4,000-5,767 feet above sea level, covers 188 square kilometres of land of great ecological diversity – from lake water, woodland, bush grassland, to rocky ridges. The park is home to not just the lesser flamingo but over 400 species of birds and one of the few places to see the endangered white rhino. Other wildlife at the park includes lions, leopards, zebra, gazelles, eland, giraffe and the hyrax.

DAY 3: ROYAL MARA SAFARI LODGE, MARA NORTH CONSERVANCY

Mara North Conservancy

Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful private wilderness area spanning more than 30 000 hectares. It is home to a spectacular array of plants, reptiles, birds and mammals; including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other migratory wildlife. Leopard Gorge, in the heart of the conservancy, is famous as the setting of countless BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. Neighbouring the well-known Maasai Mara National Reserve, this conservancy is vital for sustaining the famous Serengeti wildebeest migrations as well as the highly threatened African wild dog and black rhino.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Arrive for lunch at your lodge. Afternoon game drives until sunset. Take a stroll along our camp site and watch the parade of animals and birds watering along the picturesque marsh and at our camp waterhole and lagoon.
