Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

DAY 2: LEMALA KURIA HILLS LODGE, NORTHERN SERENGETI
Northern Serengeti
The vast, rolling savannah of the Northern Serengeti is known as the hub of the great migration. The landscape is characterised by vast stretches of savannah interspersed with acacia trees and riverine woodlands. Wildlife can be seen along the banks of the Mara River and visitors can view the annual spectacle of the half a million migrating wildebeest. Commonly spotted wildlife include: a multitude of plains game such as buffalo, zebra, gazelles, impala, giraffe as well as lion and leopard. Visitors can look forward to bird watching, hot air ballooning, game safaris and guided bush walks.
Day Itinerary
After breakfast transfer to Arusha airport for your scheduled flight Coastal Air CQ207 departing at 1045hrs to Kogatende. The Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. On arrival the camps own vehicle will transfer you to the camp for check in and lunch. Proceed for a game drive in the late afternoon with dinner and overnight at Lemala Kuria Luxury Camp

Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is remotely located in the Wogakurya Hills of the Northern Serengeti. A scenic region characterised by grassy rolling hills, open woodland and tree-lined watercourses, it is a habitat that attracts wildlife throughout the year. Lemala Kuria Hills is in close proximity to the Mara River on the Serengeti’s border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara, so is also within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.
The lodge offers unrivalled luxury and sophistication, where you can choose to either relax in style or enjoy the Northern Serengeti’s excellent game viewing (without the crowds) with superb guides in 4×4 vehicles.
Large granite boulders and kopjes are the prominent feature of Lemala Kuria Hills, and each of the 15 spacious, glass-fronted tented suites has been discreetly set amongst the giant rocks to ensure maximum privacy and spectacular views from the open decks. Day Itinerary
During the first hours of the morning, the savannah is filled with a special animation. This is when the larger predators hunt for their food, before the temperature becomes too hot for any excessive physical activity. This is the time we have the highest chances of watching a hunt in action (also likely in the early evening). The colours of the landscape are also more accentuated, and help us to take great photographs.

Day Itinerary
Early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast. Another inhabitant of the park is the Crocodile, the big boss of the river, lying camouflaged in wait for any unsuspecting victim to come its way. We could chance upon some secretive leopards, lying hidden between the branches of the trees, while impalas and Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles innocently feed nearby.

Early morning game drives inside the Northern Serengeti area. With its wide-open spaces, bright blue skies and creature-filled landscape, we shall discover why the fabled Serengeti typifies the dream of “Old Africa.” Large prides of lions laze in the long grasses; plentiful families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains, while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers)
