DAY 1: EKA HOTEL, NAIROBI       

Nairobi

Situated in along the Nairobi River in beautiful Kenya, the capital of Nairobi is East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city. It serves as an excellent starting point for African safari trips around Kenya. Nairobi is Africa’s 4th largest city and is a vibrant and exciting place, and although it has developed a reputation which keeps tourist visits brief, there are some fascinating attractions: its cafe culture, unbridled nightlife, the National Museum, the Karen Blixen Museum,Giraffe Centre and most notably just 20 minutes from the city centre wild lions and buffalo roam in the world’s only urban game reserve. Make sure you pay a visit to the Elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Day Itinerary

Morning/Evening arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport met and assisted by AMA Safaris representative.  Transfer to your hotel.  Rest of the day is spent at leisure in Nairobi (Optional tour of Karen Blixen and Giraffe centre available at extra cost). DAY 2: ILKELIANI CAMP, MASAI MARA

Masai Mara

The Masai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. The image of acacia trees dotting endless grass plains epitomizes Africa for many, then add a Maasai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve. Aside from horse riding safaris and traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential.

Day Itinerary

Today you will enjoy an early breakfast and depart for Masai Mara, past the scenic Rift Valley. Arrive at you camp in time for lunch. After lunch depart for an afternoon game drive. Masai Mara National Reserve offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Arrive for lunch at your lodge. Afternoon game drives until sunset. Meals and overnight at Ilkeliani Camp (LDBB)

Overnight: Ilkeliani Camp, Maasai mara   

Nestled in a river glade in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the area is a favourite for elephants coming to drink from the Talek River. The camp has been designed to combine the old traditional safari style with a modern and fresh feel. Ilkeliani Camp offers only 17 tents and each commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. It is a permanent camp designed along eco-friendly principles. The ethos is to leave a minimum foot print on nature.

Each well-equipped tents are stylish with en suite bathroom. They are sited under its own cluster of shady indigenous trees and you do feel that you are out in the wilderness. The interiors are spacious and comfortable featuring a front verandah with a day bed and canvas safari chairs. Home cooked meals combined with personal service contribute to an unforgettable safari experience.

DAY 3: ILKELIANI CAMP, MASAI MARA

Full day in Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Enjoy Optional activities; Balloon Safari at an extra cost. Meals and overnight at Ilkeliani Camp – LDBB  

We awaken to the sounds of Africa and begin our day with a morning game drive, affording an intimate and profoundly personal bond to the world of the wild. Our expert driver guide is hard at work, pointing our each individual miracle of the land that we are now part of.

An extensive afternoon game drives run explores the depths of the deep Masai mara. Everywhere there are animals, including monkeys and yes birds…but look closely and you will thrill to the huge jungles cats- Lions, Leopards and cheetahs just watching the earth go by. And go by it does: rhino, gazelles, antelopes and massive elephants by the herds. There are animals in the trees, on the wing, camouflaged in the bush, in rivers and streams.

DAY 4: LAKE NAKURU SOPA LODGE, LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK         

Nakuru

Nakuru is a city on the shores of western Kenya’s Lake Nakuru, within a reserve that sprawls across almost 200 square kilometres. It is the capital of Nakuru County, located in the Great Rift Valley. Ten kilometres from town lies the massive Menengai Crater. A hiking trail leads up to the rim of this ancient caldera, offering bird’s eye views over the lake and surrounds then plunges 400 metres down to the floor below, where you will find ancient forests. Lake Nakuru National Park, surrounding Nakuru, is home to exceptional birdlife, as well as over 50 varieties of mammals. These include lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhino, antelope and various primates.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National and descent to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, destination Lake Nakuru. This beautiful Lake is surrounded by the wooded and bushy grassland.  You get to enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake itself to surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges.

With 56 different species of mammals including Rhinos and the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, Lake Nakuru is also a true bird watchers haven boasting of over 450 species of birdlife. Afternoon game drives in this picturesque park. Arrive in time for lunch; later depart for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge – LDBB  

Overnight: Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge         

Lake Nakuru Sopa lodge is located on a range of hills that form the western limits of East Africa’s Great Rift Valley; the Lodge offers spectacular views over the vastness of Lake Nakuru and its surrounding National Park. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos and other water birds being the major attraction of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white and black rhino, buffaloes and others. The Lodge is 20km from the park main gate and 15 minutes drive from Naishi airstrip. Lodge accommodations consist of 60 rooms which include 2 inter-connecting rooms, 2 rooms accessible on wheel chair. Rooms are grouped into single, twin or triple rooms. All rooms have a clear view of the lake and you are able to view the sun rise from the balcony. All rooms have safe box, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar is stocked on request and telephone extensions are also provided in all rooms.

DAY 5: OL TUKAI LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snow cap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok. The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Day Itinerary

Today you will enjoy an   early breakfast and depart for Amboseli. “The Kilimanjaro Royal Court”Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands.

The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species it also offers spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge

Ol Tukai Lodge is one of the best spots in the world to watch elephants with the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Writers have described Ol Tukai and the surrounding Amboseli National Park as ‘a home for the gods’. A place of rugged beauty, abundant water, lush green grass and forest, set like an oasis in the surrounding savannah shrubland. To crown it all, this is where you get one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights – dawn breaks and the sunsets over the 19,000-foot snow-capped dome of Africa’s highest mountain!

DAY 6: OL TUKAI LODGE, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Day Itinerary

Full day in Amboseli National park with morning and afternoon game drives. Optional visit to Masai village at an extra charge.

Meals and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge – LDBB

Amboseli is an enormous volcanic plateau, almost totally eroded and dry, and is dominated by the majestic peaks of the eternally snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, with a height of almost 6000metres above sea level, earning itself the name “The rooftop of Africa”.

Curiously, and somewhat due to the good filtration of the volcanic rocks, this arid landscape contains several marshes and swamps, whose waters attract an extensive assortment of wildlife: gazelles, impalas, gerenuks, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos and lions, among others, finding solace in this harsh country. However, the biggest attraction of the park is the elephants, ambling along in huge herds with the incomparable Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop.

Day Itinerary

Today you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast, later depart for Nairobi, and drop off at Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your scheduled flight to a beautiful beach stay o back home. AMA Safaris representative will assist you.
