DAY 1: ELEWANA TORTILIS CAMP AMBOSELI, AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK        

Amboseli National Park

Located in the southern reaches of Kenya, the Amboseli National Park is renowned for its excellent variety of wildlife such as Masaai giraffe, elephant, lion and cheetah and not surprisingly it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The landscape of Amboseli is dominated by the majestic snowcap of Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as open plains, acacia woodland, swamps and the massif of Ol Doinyo Orok.

The birding is excellent, especially closer to the lakes and swamps. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to large herds of elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Maasai people and soak up spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

Day Itinerary

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met by our AMA Safaris representative, after safari briefing transfer to Wilson Airport for your morning scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli’s areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met and assisted by camp driver guide for your transfer to the camp in shared vehicle. Afternoon shared game activities. Overnight: Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli        

Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. There are over 1000 elephants in the park’s eco-system, featuring some of the largest in Africa. Elewana Tortilis Camp is situated in one of Amboseli’s areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the park and within a private 30,000-acre game concession. The tents are all spacious, with king or twin beds and elegant ensuite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs.

DAY 4: FINCH HATTONS LUXURY TENTED CAMP, TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

Tsavo West National Park

Located in Kenya’s Coast Province, Tsavo West National Park stretches for over 9000km² and is one of Kenya’s most rewarding parks. Tsavo West is covered in fairly thick bush but has spectacular natural scenery which includes volcanic cones, swamps, rocky outcrops and lava flows, mountains, river forest, plains, lakes, natural springs and wooded grassland. Although the game is not as easy to spot as in Tsavo East, it’s all here. Natural attractions include: the Mzima Springs, the main source of water for the Tsavo River; the Chaimu Crater; and the Roaring Rocks, offering panoramic views. Visitors can soak up the dramatic scenery, stay at one of the many fine lodges and spot a variety of wildlife.

Day Itinerary

Today you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast, later depart on a scenic road transfer to Finch, and enjoy game drive en route to the camp. Tsavo West is one of the largest national parks in Kenya and due its vast size it covers a variety of landscapes ranging from Swamps, natural springs and rocky peaks to extinct volcanoes, rolling plains and sharp outcrops dusted with greenery. The park has one of the largest populations of Elephants. Mzima springs which an oasis is created by a gushing supply of fresh water featuring a unique underwater observatory to give an unparalleled view of life under the surface.

DAY 6: SALT LICK GAME LODGE, TAITA HILLS WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated at the foot of the Taita Hills, bordering Tsavo West National Park, Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya. It features beautiful wild scenery, luxury lodges, unique flora, abundant fauna and fascinating culture. Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary provides visitors with a wonderful opportunity to soak up the magnificent landscape featuring endless grass plains, woodland habitats and panoramic views of the picturesque Taita Hills. The sanctuary offers visitors the fantastic selection of exciting wilderness activities such as wild and secluded eco-safaris, day trips to local authentic villages, and interesting guided nature walks. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife including: African elephant, leopard, lion, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, hartebeest, impala, waterbuck, cape buffalo as well as over 300 species of birds.

Day Itinerary

Today you will enjoy an early breakfast and depart for Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive in time for lunch.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya. It is located in the Coast Province in Taita – Taveta District approximately 220km from Mombasa. A late afternoon game drive is scheduled to explore the sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at  Salt Lick game Lodge LDBB

Overnight: Salt Lick Game Lodge   

Located in the heart of the private Taita Hills Sanctuary, bordering Tsavo West National Park in south-eastern Kenya, Salt Lick Game Lodge is a truly unique concept consisting of 96 rooms elevated on stilts, each overlooking a waterhole and linked by suspended walkways.

At night, the waterholes are floodlit ensuring that you enjoy an uninterrupted view of the numerous animals arriving to quench their thirst. The elevated restaurant, and the bar a level higher, also offer stunning views of the sanctuary and are the ideal vantage points to view game.

The lodge has its own fleet of well-equipped safari vehicles with excellent guides. The climate is very moderate with temperatures averaging between 18 and 30 degrees Celsius all year round. There are sporadic rains in March, April, November and December.

Due to the unique layout of the lodge, it is not suitable for children below 8 years. Salt Lick Game Lodge is 400 km from Nairobi and 200km from Mombasa. The lodge is a one-hour flight from Nairobi or 30 minutes from Mombasa by private charter which lands at the Lodge’s own airstrip. The Sanctuary is a 3-hour drive from Mombasa and a 6-hour drive from Nairobi on tarmac roads
