DAY 1: FAIRMONT MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB, NANYUKI          

Nanyuki

This small equatorial town is a popular thoroughfare for hikers climbing Mount Kenya via the Burguret or Sirimon routes, and consequently has a wide array of accommodation options and a few good restaurants, including Barney’s, known for its fine cuisine, and the Trout Tree, housed inside the trunk of an enormous tree and serving several variations of this freshwater fish. The town boasts excellent views of the mountain, while the surrounding region encompasses several reserves, including Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu National Reserve, Sweetwaters Game Reserve, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Shaba National Reserve.

Day Itinerary

Met by AMA Safaris on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Ex International flight at morning hours and connect a scheduled domestic flight for Mount Kenya Safari Club to arrive in time at the Nanyuki Airstrip and transfer for sumptuous lunch at Mount Kenya Safari Club.

This club was founded by Hollywood star William Holden going back several decades and is now a Fairmont hotels property.  The Club offers several activities such as golf, horse riding and nature hikes at an extra cost. Afternoon at leisure. Later enjoy a formal set-menu dinner in the evening and overnight at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club – FB

DAY 3: SWEETWATERS SERENA CAMP, OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya’s Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to the last three remaining northern white rhino in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees.

The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including: zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey and many more. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at leisure at the club proceed to the Sweetwater’s Tented Camp, home of the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary in time for lunch. Thereafter proceed for our first game drive in this wildlife rich sanctuary. We can be able to spot lions, elephants, buffalos and even leopards if we are lucky!

Enjoy an optional night game drive which can be booked and paid at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp – FB – Morani Wing.

Overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp

A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Tented Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury.

Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. The central Rhino Restaurant is housed in the former manager’s house of this once colonial farm, and offers both regional and international cuisine. Also within the house is the Kashoggi Bar and lounge, which centres on a blazing log fire. The Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers unrivalled wildlife-watching.

After breakfast proceed on a morning game drive till lunch at the camp. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening proceed for another game drive inside the sanctuary till sunset.

DAY 5: OLARE MARA KEMPINSKI, OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY

Olare Motorogi Conservancy

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is an 85km² expanse of prime private wilderness in southwest Kenya which forms part of the Maasai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem and wildlife dispersal zone. The conservancy lies immediately to the northwest of the main Maasai Mara. Tourism is limited to a maximum of 94 beds which maximizes the client wilderness experience and minimizes the environmental impact of tourism. Open hills provide a habitat for a diverse range of grazers, including giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, and warthogs.

These herds attract large numbers of predators, including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. In between the hills run a number of small seasonal streams, fringed by stretches of forest which are home to a broader range of species including baboons, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards.

Day Itinerary

After an American breakfast transfer to Nanyuki Airstrip for your flight QP 031 departing 0915hrs to arrive at the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve via the Great Rift Valley at approximately 1100hrs.

On arrival at the Olare Orok airstrip, transfer to your camp in time for lunch and check in.  In the afternoon, enjoy an enthralling game-viewing drive inside the conservancy. Spotting lions, cheetahs and other spectacular predators is the highlight of your day.

Later return to the Camp for dinner and overnight at Mara Olare Kempinski Luxury Tented Lodge – Inclusive – Standard Tents

Overnight: Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara

Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara is located in Olare Motorogi Conservancy which borders the Masai Mara National Reserve.

The camp comprises of 12 luxury tents of which one is a honeymoon suite with its very own plunge pool.  Guests are able to unwind and enjoy time away from normal routine when they stay with us, dining options at the camp are unique with guests being able to select from dining in the camp gardens, in the midst of the wilderness or by the pool. Other dining options are also available. In between Safari experiences guests can take a dip in the cooling waters of the swimming pool, or opt to have a spa treatment.  Guests can engage in a number of activities during their stay including a visit to the Masai Village to learn about the Masai Culture and way of living, walking safaris and balloon safari to have a bird’s eye view of the Masai Mara region.

Olare Motorogi Conservancy is home to the biggest population of big cats. The Conservancy has set a maximum of 72 beds in four mobile tented camps, equating to one guest for every 350 acres. This gives guests the ability to enjoy an ‘almost’ private safari experience.

DAY 6: OLARE MARA KEMPINSKI, OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY

Day Itinerary

Rise before dawn for a spectacular Hot Air Balloon ride followed by a bubbly bush breakfast (optional at extra cost).

Balloon flights typically take off at 0630hrs. Passengers arrive in time to watch the balloon inflation as the pilots torch the colored fabric to life. The flight is for one hour, each one different path and following the days prevailing winds. A Balloon flight allows passengers to float over the world’s most spectacular game reserve, and offers a magical bird’s eye view of the wildlife the Mara is famous for.

On landing, the balloon crew sets up a full champagne breakfast complete with “Bloody Mary’s” on the Mara plains. Each passenger then receives a certificate from their pilot as a special memoir of their flight. There are balloons with a flying capacity of 16 passengers and of 12 passengers (All this is extra at US$450 – US$490 per person)

OR proceed for an early morning game drive. Return to the Camp for lunch then later, set out on a late afternoon game spotting safari in the reserve and the opportunity to spot Africa’s ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

OR with packed lunch boxes depart for a full day game drive and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at

Mara Olare Kempinski Luxury Tented Lodge.

DAY 7: OLARE MARA KEMPINSKI, OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY

Day Itinerary

After breakfast proceed on a full-day game-viewing drive to search for the myriad species of game that make this reserve their home. If you are lucky, you can witness the kill in action, moment by moment, right in front of your unbelieving eyes!

After picnic lunch boxes proceed for another exciting game drive where you can expect to see the famous ‘Big 5’.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Olare Kempinski Luxury Tented Lodge.

DAY 8: END OF ITINERARY

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at leisure transfer to Olare Orok airstrip for your flight QP 002 departing at 1100hrs to arrive Nairobi Wilson airport at 1220hrs and transfer to the Carnivore Restaurant in time for lunch.

Proceed on last minute shopping. Later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your evening flights back home
